Oh hey 2021, how are ya!?! I feel like saying 2021 weddings is a breath of fresh air! As we start to design weddings for 2021, we wanted to share some trends that we are LOVING and wanting to see more of coming into this new year!

We are here for colorful weddings! Seriously, lets have some fun with décor! Don’t get us wrong, you can have some pretty amazing natural weddings, but we will never pass up a good opportunity to help design some colorful weddings!

Bolds and vibrant are having a moment, and we are loving it! Think 90’s style, sunset pallets, and color blocking!

Some of our favorite ways you can achieve this look is with suit jackets and attire, linens, florals, backdrops and furniture!

Art Deco inspired BOLD colorful backdrops

Having fun with these babies by using these backdrops for more than just ceremony! Defining areas to control room flow or even used to partition during a room flip. Photo booth backdrops, as signs, or even behind your head table. There are so many ways you can utilize these fun pieces!

You can really create something whimsical when it comes to dried floral, we have worked with some of the best on this! We aren’t only talking about pampas grass(we do love it) we are talking about hydrangeas, oak branches, crab apple twigs!!! The possibilities are endless when you start to forage in our forests!

Lounge seating

We love a good lounge at a wedding. It is nice to not only break up a larger space, but it allows a place for your guests to go and conversate with each other. Let us be real, it really elevates the overall design aesthetic as well! Bonus points if your venue comes with lounge spaces like the entry of the amazing Pinewood!

Fun Mocktails!

Allowing your guests to have something refreshing and original, many of the bar services we work with are amazing at crafting custom mocktails! We don’t personally drink, so when we see mocktails offered at weddings and events, we genuinely get excited!

Orange Spritzer

Lavender Lemonade

Watermelon Breeze … To name a few!

Individual food items!

We are seeing trends of individual charcutier boards, appetizer sampler plates, and boxed dinners, and desserts.

Couples want to provide a safe experience for their guests, what better way then incorporating personalized individual food for them!

Weekday Weddings!

This is something that is becoming popular not only because of the Gong Show 2020 was and the immense amount of weddings moved and dates not being available, but also the SAVINGS. You can save big on venues this way because they offer huge discounts, and most other vendors will offer some sort of discount.

The idea of a weekday wedding might seem like a turnoff, but we can assure you, your loved ones are going to have fun and enjoy your big day, regardless of the day of the week, we promise! Some of our favorite weddings have been a Wednesday or Thursday!

Activities other than dancing

Couples are asking to get creative when it comes to the entertainment part of the evening, this is partly because they aren’t big dancers, or because dancing is not super “social distance” friendly right now…

1.      Trivia or bingo with your DJ

2.      Other games for them to play like board games or large outdoor games

Venue Trends

Creative table layouts – Seating arrangements

With venue restrictions everchanging, we are seeing a lot of creative seating arrangements being put together. In 2020, there were a lot of 4 to table and 6 to table layouts, based on household and guest list. This will probably trickle into 2021 as well.

Head tables are incorporating wedding parties’ spouses, creating a larger head table, or going the complete opposite and the couple is keeping it small and intimate with a sweetheart table for the two of them, and having their wedding party sit with the guests.

Outdoor space

Outdoor space is important to a lot of couples lately, as outdoor games and people hanging out by a fire really sets a scene for a kick ass wedding, couples are looking for a fresh spot for their guests to hang out after dinner.

Intentional / Small weddings

Couples are really making their guest list count! Gone are the days of inviting everyone you have ever heard of (not even met, just heard of)

Couples are being intentional on who they decide to invite to their weddings. We have paired down quite a few, had them move to a back yard and it is just lovely! Their best people are there with them to celebrate, there is not as much stress, and our couples seem to really enjoy it! We are very excited for the small / backyard wedding trend to last far past 2021! If you happen to be planning a backyard wedding and you need some advice, hit us up, we are really REALLY good at planning those bad boys!
